For as long as I can remember I've been passionate about art and painting.
Born in Germany, I was a self-taught artist from a young age, and had my first major Portrait Exhibition at the Berlin Town Hall when I was just 13 years old.
Those works were commissioned by the German Education Department, consisting of over 80 portrait studies of various African tribes which were held on display at the Berlin Town Hall. When the exhibition ended all 80 portraits were donated to the Hamburg Education Department for reference purposes.
I received top marks at school for my artwork but would continuously be reprimanded by my teachers for sketching in class instead of learning English as a second language. I ignored their advice that it may benefit me some day as I firmly believed any type of expression would come through my art.
As luck would have it upon completion of my studies in Berlin, I met the love of my life and followed my heart to start a new life in Australia when I was just 18 years old with the echo of my English teacher's prediction of needing a second language ringing in my ears.
After settling in Australia, I continued with my artwork and was tutored by Graham Moore, a well known Melbourne artist and I began exhibiting paintings both locally and overseas being fortunate to win numerous prizes for my art.
I exhibit my work throughout Melbourne and paint a wide range of subjects in different mediums and genres including landscapes, seascapes, portraits, animals, and abstract art.
I especially take great pleasure in commission work of family portraits of loved family members and pets and it really warms my heart seeing the joy it brings when I present a completed piece to the new owner.
